So coffee isn’t so bad for you after all, at least, not if you golf. According to a study conducted on college-aged golfers, a cup of joe every morning could take as many as two strokes away from your overall score. The Auburn University researchers observed 12 male golfers playing 36 holes over two days. Half of them were given a cup of coffee and the other half a cup of placebo. If you’ve been paying attention, you might’ve guessed which group did better. The caffeinated players went two strokes under, hit farther drives and hit far more greens in regulation than their counterparts.
If there is any truth to these findings, Starbucks might just get a whole lot richer if it opened branches on the course. Perhaps these Starbucks outlets will be the 20th holes of the future.
