Jason Day is great at many things, but getting a good night’s sleep is not one of them. The world’s current No. 1 claims to feel on top of the world right now, but admits that the days leading up to it have been taxing, to say in the least.
“This week has been a bit of a whirlwind, especially with how I started the week, shooting 18-under par through the first two rounds and then on top of it, the last two days were very, very emotional for me, very hard to sleep at night, knowing that I had the chance to get to No. 1.”
Think he’ll rest easy now that he’s up there, above the best of them? It’s still not a sure thing.
“I mean, sometimes I get good sleep, but the majority of the time I don’t get good sleep. Tonight I will not get good sleep. Sunday night if I’m in contention I get two hours’ sleep just because I’m so amped from what I did today.”
Seems like a bit of a no-win situation, if we’re honest. He can’t sleep if he’s too anxious or too happy. Perhaps lying low and playing the average joe for a bit will be just what the doctor orders for Jason Day soon.
