Tiger Woods had one of golf’s greatest seasons in 2005 when he won The Masters and British Open in emphatic style.
2005 was a good year for the game with TV ratings skyrocketing. It started with a textbook win for Woods at the Buick Invitational before the Dual at Doral when Woods beat arch-rival Phil Mickelson by a single stroke. By November, Woods had won over $10 million and bagged two majors, sealing the year as his second best on TOUR.
To highlight just how good his year was, PGA TOUR equipment writer Jonathan Wall released these photographs of the wear pattern on the Nike golf blades Woods used to such devastating effect. This was the culmination of a swing transformation with Hank Haney, and the results are just insane.
It’s quite clear that the world’s best wear in a ball striking category that separated them from the rest.
