A quick look at the staggering price of the three most expensive golf courses in the world
3. Trump National, Los Angeles
The total spend for this club is a staggering $264 million which makes it the most expensive golf course ever built. “The stratification of sedimentary rock” (a posh way of saying part of the course fell into the sea) was responsible for escalating costs. The 18th hole had to be completely rebuilt, reportedly costing $61 million to correct, that’s another record!

2. Bear’s club, Florida
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this is the centerpiece of his 299 course empire. Members include Rory McIlroy, Michelle Wie and Michael Jordan. Reports in SBNation earlier this year suggested playing round the course can take some time, with Magic so irritated about the waiting time he considered leaving.

1. Liberty National, New Jersey
Costing $250 million to build this is the cream of the cream. Members include Mark Wahlberg, Justin Timberlake, Phil Mickelson and Robert Kraft, the list is endless. The course has hosted the Barclays twice and will be the venue for the next President’s cup.
Joining fee: $374,000
