Tiger Woods is an easy target because he was really the first “celebrity” in the golf world and so we chewed him up and spat him out.
He was an inspiration and a game changer, but he is also a human being who made a bad decision. He was caught cheating on his family and the fame of it all got to his head. We can all learn a thing or two from Tiger but from a woman’s perspective, these were his downfalls. Take notes men (and women).
1. It Takes Two To Tango
When you’re with someone, and you are emotionally invested in a partnership, there is a certain amount of trust that is needed to sustain that relationship. This is true for both parties, one can not hold together two parts of a whole for too long. One person gets tired and everything falls apart, sometimes for the better. It’s exhausting being the only one working towards something, that the other person may not even be able to see. In other words, if you have an issue with your relationship, talk to your partner and COMMUNICATE. Don’t drag something along because it’s easier to do so. Have the courage to make a hard decision, because in the end both parties will be happier for it.
2. Nobody Likes A Cheater
See what happens when you don’t communicate? Someone ends up cheating. Clearly there is something wrong with the relationship you’re in if you feel the need to seek out more attention. Maybe you just want to do whatever the hell you want and that’s perfectly fine, if you’re not dragging down someone else, or others (children), with you! When you have a family, there are more important things than getting some ass. Nobody likes a cheater, and you become someone that the other person in the relationship can’t recognize. Nip it in the bud. Talk it out before you whip it out.
3. Live By The Golden Rule
“Treat others the way you want to be treated”. There’s a reason this is the rule that’s taught around the world. People these days are so self centered, only thinking bout themselves, when there is so much more to life. We need to respect the people around us, the ones that are putting their faith in us to be decent human beings. We owe it to ourselves and to those we love to treat them the way we want to be treated. Tiger apparently treated his caddie like sh**. He didn’t appreciate that and ended up writing about it. That’s called KARMA people. Learn from it.
4. Sincerely Apologize
If you make a mistake, you apologize. It’s that simple. If you’re not sorry then GTFO. You made an error in judgment and you hurt someone in the process. If you can’t understand that other peoples feelings matter then you never deserved that person anyways. Tiger apologized to the media (which is insane because who the f*** are we to judge) and you could tell right away he was just doing it to appease the haters. I’m sure he apologized to his wife as well, but if Tiger can apologize to millions of people then you can apologize to someone you potentially cared about.
5. Have Some Modesty
Ok so it’s Tiger Woods. He’s allowed to boast a bit here and there. No one is denying what he did for the game of golf was and is still a huge factor in its growth and popularity. There’s a certain point though where confidence turns into arrogance. You need to step back and ask yourself “am I doing all I can with this attention”, or from an average persons stand point “am I listening as much as I’m talking?”. It’s great to love yourself, but don’t forget about loving others too.
6. Grow Up
Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect. Everything in life is a learning experience. As long as you are growing and realizing the errors you made, and can progress in the process, then there’s no reason to get down on yourself. Forgive yourself. Others will forgive you and some may not, but ultimately you have to live with yourself and you should allow yourself to move on. New experiences, relationships, and mistakes will happen and that’s what life is about.
7. Keep Moving Through The BS
There are always those haters who will do anything to try and bring you down. They obviously don’t know the Golden Rule or just feel like they can disregard it. F*** ’em. They don’t know sh**! You know who you are and no one else can tell you how to live your life. It may be hard but you need to rise above all the BS people out there and find those quality friends that will lift you up. Tiger was down on himself for a while because of all the negative media on him, but he kept going and now is opening his first designed golf course, and was chosen to be a vice captain for the Ryder Cup in 2016. Things are looking up for him and that shows you that no matter what you can always turn your life around.
Thanks for the life lessons Tiger.
