Everyone is talking about Adele right now. Her music transcends through our souls, making us feel things we didn’t know we could feel. We cry, we laugh, we reminisce about past loves or recall our worst mistakes. The range of emotions in her music lets us relate her beautiful songs to anything in our lives.
So why not match up our favorite Adele songs to our beloved golfers. Which song reminds you of Tiger Woods? How about Jordan Spieth or Rory McIlroy? See if you can find out which song goes which golfer. The answers will be at the bottom of the page:
A. Chasing Pavements
This golfer had a rough start to the game, even though he was projected to do so much more. He is still young though, and has risen above his past faults. He found ways to keep himself in the game and became someone for other young golfers to look up to and emulate. He kept chasing pavements and found a world of success and support from his fans. Never give up_____, we love you!
“Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements, even if it leads nowhere.”
B. Rolling In The Deep
Golf is a rough sport to play professionally. There are so many obstacles to overcome and even a golfer who has been doing it for as long as this one has, there are still times when you can doubt yourself. This golfer is one of the best and although he may not win as much as you’d think (even though he’s won plenty), he always finds a way to keep us on our toes with amazing shots and shows us why he’s there. We should never underestimate this golfer and his mind blowing bunker shots.
“Don’t underestimate the things that I will do”
C. Set Fire To The Rain
This is a song that cuts right to the core of someone who was truly cheated by the game of love. This song is not for someone who has been cheated on but the cheater himself. This cheater won, and won a lot. Not only did they win but they changed the face of golf forever. He was an icon and a hero in the golf world and then we all saw a different side to him, that brought him down to a recognizable level, and he became just another cheater.
“There’s a side to you that I never knew, the words you’d say they were never true, the games you’d play you would always win.”
Granted Adele is a bit dramatic in this song, but then again it was the theme song for a Bond movie. This song could relate to one golfer, or a slew of them, as could most of her songs. This song emulates courage and standing strong no matter what life throws at you. Golfers have to learn to roll with the punches and keep their heads high no matter who they are up against, another team, or themselves.
“Let the skyfall, when it crumbles, we will stand tall, face it all together, at skyfall.”
E. Make You Feel My Love
It seems as though this song would be about love, as most of Adele’s songs are. Although each of her love songs have a different tone, because love is ever changing and never the same. This song makes me think of a golfer who will do anything to be the best he can be, and won’t let anything get between him and his game. He is out there to prove himself and his worth to be on the top, above everyone else. He will make all of us feel his love, and maybe he knows and maybe he doesn’t, but we’re already there.
“The winds of change are blowing wild and free, you ain’t seen nothing like me yet.”
F. Hello (Jimmy Fallon Version)
This version of “Hello” with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, is so unique and special. The original is wonderful on it’s own but this brings a fresh array of true talent. This golfer is always true to himself and has brought back a real sense of integrity to the game of golf. Adele knew that we were all waiting for this album of hers and this song blew everyone away. We were waiting for this golfer and what we got was so much more than we expected. The lyrics may not emulate this golfer but the sense of love we feel towards it is the same we feel for him. We’ve only seen the beginning of the talent in this golfer.
Let’s see if you got them right:
A. Rickie Fowler
B. Phil Mickelson
C. Tiger Woods
D. Ryder Cup Anthem
E. Rory McIlroy
F. Jordan Spieth
