- Sadio Mane reportedly came close to joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window
- Manchester City are now interested in acquiring the services of the Saints forward
- Mane is rated at £25million by the South Coast side
The dust has barely settled from the January transfer window, but the Sun are already reporting that Manchester City and Manchester United will both do battle over the signature of Southampton’s Sadio Mane in the summer.
It certainly makes more sense for the Red Devils to go for the attacker because, you know, their squad is shit, however, Mane certainly isn’t of the calibre that Louis van Gaal (read: Jose Mourinho) should be targeting to get United back to those Sir Alex Ferguson days.
In Jesus Navas and Memphis Depay the Manchester powerhouses have more than enough winger/forwards who don’t score or assist enough, so why buy another?!
The Everton man may not be the high profile player United and City fans are craving, however, given the fact the former Barcelona winger would be cheaper, has eight assists from just 13 Premier League starts this season and is only 21, he’d represent a shrewder investment.
The Red Devils need something to get them all…
…again, and signing one of hottest properties on the transfer market would do just that.
City, on the other hand, just need to stop signing wank wingers like Scott ‘two Premier League starts’ Sinclair.
Does anyone genuinely believe that Pep Guardiola even knows who Sadio Mane is?
