- Leicester City scout, Ben Wigglesworth, has confirmed he is joining Arsenal
- Wigglesworth is credited with unearthing the talents of Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante
- The Gooners welcome Leicester to the Emirates Stadium this Sunday
Arsene Wenger clearly has a new philosophy of ‘If you can’t beat ’em, just sign whoever made them a force’, after Leicester City scout Ben Wigglesworth confirmed his move to north London.
Ignoring the fact that Wigglesworth sounds like something you’d call your cat, the former Foxes man clearly has an eye for talent with Kante and Mahrez well on their way to making the Premier League Team of the Season.
MAHREZ WITH THE TRIPLE KILL
HE’S A RIGHT KANTE, BUT HE’S OUR KANTE
This is such an Arsene Wenger thing to do, though, rather than going out and signing N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez – two players who would be great additions to the starting XI let alone the squad – Le Professeur opts to sign the bloke who found them.
So, yet again, Wenger avoids splashing the cash and decides against correcting the issues Arsenal have – particularly in what Kante would bring to the side – and opts for the long game (because it has clearly been working wonders)…
Sure, Wigglesworth addition may see Arsenal start unearthing a gem or two again – Arsene Wenger hasn’t done that for years – but the Gunners aren’t a team that needs to wait to grow and develop, they’re a club that can have their cake and eat it, so why not start doing so?!
Arsenal and Leicester’s next Premier League game is, quite fittingly, against one another. However, whether Wenger will start Wigglesworth remains to be seen…
