Whether you’re an Arsenal fan or even the most cold-hearted of neutrals, it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for Abou Diaby.
The former Arsenal midfielder hailed to be ‘the next Patrick Viera’ and was at one point; the brightest young talent in the Premier League. And then the injuries set in…
After suffering a horrendous ankle fracture back in 2006, Diaby’s career has been blighted by a succession of injuries ever since.
Now at Marseille, Diaby has been declared fit to play after an astonishing 506 days on the sidelines. Once upon a time, the former French international was a potent force in front of goal but using this clip as judgement, he’s struggling to hit a barn door at the moment!
It’s understandable that Abou’s would be less than sharp at the moment. The powerful midfielder made his last competitive appearance for Arsenal’s during their League Cup loss at the hands of Southampton in September 2014.
I guess a 33% strike rate isn’t too woeful considering.
