Arsenal will play a Major League Soccer All-Star team in a pre-season match in California on 28 July.
In the first game of their American tour, Arsène Wenger’s side will take on the 2016 MLS AT&T All-Stars at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose.
MLS All-Star teams have previously featured former Arsenal players Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg and, this season, supporters could see the likes of Kaka, Didier Drogba, Sebastian Giovinco and Bradley Wright-Phillips in the MLS All-Star squad.
Arsenal just couldn’t resist a subtle dig at their North London rivals Tottenham in the promotional video.
Spurs played a showcase friendly against the All Star side last July… losing the match 2-1. Arsenal’s PR team wasted absolutely no time pointing that out.
As the All Stars discuss pre-season over a game of FIFA at the start of the clip, they briefly consider Tottenham as a potential opponent, before interjecting: “Beat them”.
Following the All-Stars clash, the Gunners will then take on Chivas de Guadalajara at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles.
Arsène Wenger commented: “Pre-season is a critically important time for us and we are delighted to be going to San Jose and Los Angeles to participate in the 2016 MLS All-Star game and to play Chivas.
“We have tremendous support across America and enjoyed our visit to New York in the summer of 2014 when we played the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena. We look forward to giving our US fans the chance to see the team play live.”
