Olivier Giroud is very much a marmite footballer; you either love him or hate him.

He’ll make you feel this:

Or, the Frenchman will make you react like this:

There’s no in between.
Le Professeur has had his say on the former Montpellier man’s lack of goals recently, and the hidden message behind what Wenger was saying was there for everyone to see.

“I am not concerned about Giroud’s form,”

Translation: “I’m used to Giroud being shite”

“He set up [Mesut] Ozil for the first goal against Bournemouth last week [in a 2-0 win].”

Translation: “I could set up a goal against the bloody Cherries”

“For me, an assist or a goal is the same for an attacker.”

Translation: “I have to lower the level of expectation for Giroud; I praise him for the most basic of achievements. For example, the other day, he put his dirty plate straight into the dishwasher, so I gave him a wage rise.”

Wenger was clearly in a feisty mood, as Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck were the next Arsenal stars in the firing line!

“Per is a great leader and very respected in our dressing room. But I have three centre-backs and I adapt on form and on the strengths of our opponents.”

Translation: “Thankfully, we have three centre-backs. If we didn’t I would’ve considered bringing back Eboue, who is without a club, over playing Mertesacker”

“The squad will be similar to last week. There are still two days to go before the game, but we have to be careful,”

Translation: “…but we have to be careful that Danny Welbeck doesn’t try and sneak back into the squad; he’s crap”
