“The dog ate my homework miss!”, “The train never arrived sir!”… “the tweet was totally accidental it happened whilst driving and my phone was in my pocket!” Ok, surely no-one would be stupid enough to use that last one.
Nope, Joleon Lescott would.
Lescott has claimed his tweet of an expensive car in the aftermath of Aston Villa’s 6-0 thrashing at home to Liverpool was a complete accident.
Following his club’s heaviest defeat at Villa Park for 81 years, the centre-back posted an image of a Mercedes-Benz to all of his 823,000 followers on Twitter:

Many interpreted the tweet as a cryptic response to his critics, in addition to the boos that he endured from the Villa fans throughout the match. Yet, Lescott insists the image was simply posted by accident.
Naturally, the outraged and bewildered response of Aston Villa fans on Twitter was the source of much hilarity:
@JoleonLescott Does this car go 0-6 in 90 minutes?

Joleon Lescott’s accidental tweet story reminds me of a nurse friend telling me how a man who came to A&E “fell on the remote” up his arse.

Joleon Lescott can “pocket-tweet” a picture of a 120k merc but he can’t stop Daniel Sturridge from being gifted a free header ?
