Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic uploaded a picture yesterday to all of his social media accounts, with his face painted like infamous comic-book villain, The Joker from Batman.

Mandzukic has not featured heavily for Juventus this season,  partly due to injuries but more likely because of the Italian champions’ startling form in Serie A. The Croatian has been able to make an impact from the bench however, scoring six goals in 16 appearances.

The Croatian press have jumped to the conclusion that Mandzukic’s Joker impersonation, now promoted as his profile picture across all social media networks, is a warning to Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola.

Mandzukic was sold against his will by Guardiola from Bayern Munich to Atletico Madrid, despite his reputable goal scoring record at the Allianz Arena over two previous seasons.

The Croatian targetman is believed to still hold a grudge towards the future Manchester City manager and feels he could be the “joker” off the bench in the upcoming Champions League tie between the Bayern and Juventus.

Juve host the German champions in Turin next Tuesday, with the second fixture scheduled in mid-March.
