Jamie Vardy celebrated his new, improved contract with Leicester City by splashing out on a Bentley Continental.
The England striker recently agreed a three-and-half year contract worth around £80,000 a week, a record breaking figure for Leicester who have pulled out all the stops to keep Vardy at the club.
The former non-league, now premier league top scorer upgraded to the £168,000 luxury motor following a stunning rise up the ladder – Leicester currently sit top of the table.
Five years ago Vardy was turning out for Halifax in the Northern Premier League – he’s now widely regarded as the most lethal marksman in the country.
At 29 years of age, it’s taken Vardy longer than most England international stars to rise to the top, but he’s now at the summit of the Premier League scoring charts with 19 goals – three more than rivals Harry Kane and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
The former Fleetwood frontman has been linked with a summer move to heavyweights Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer, but has now committed his future to Claudio Ranieri’s table-toppers until 2019:
“Leicester City have shown nothing but total faith in me since the day I arrived here three and a half years ago and it’s impossible to measure how much that belief has helped me to improve.
“I’ll spend every day working to repay it.”
Vardy and his team-mates may yet have more cash to spend in the summer if they do go on to win the league itself.
As Sportsmail reported, Leicester’s Thai owners have promised a £1 million bonus if they can finish ahead of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City.
