Sadly for Lazar Markovic, it doesn’t sound like his Liverpool career is over, despite spending the season on loan with Turkish outfit, Fenerbahce.
Brendan Rodgers, the man who deemed Rickie Lambert as more than adequate to help cover the loss of Luis Suarez, shipped Markovic out to Turkey for the season.
The break from Anfield seems to have done the winger the world of good – as it would anyone – with Markovic impressing for Vitor Pereira’s side. However, Nani is currently a fan favourite for the same team, so perhaps there shouldn’t be too much read into the former Benfica man’s revival.
Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Markovic will be welcomed back this summer: “We have enough strikers – five with Roberto (Firmino) – but not too many wingers, just a few young ones with great potential.”
The Reds boss went on to discuss just how he plans to utilise Markovic:
Anyone is better than Simon Mignolet.

The natural width and pace that the now-Manchester City winger offered Liverpool was influential in the season they went so close to the Premier League title. Markovic isn’t at Sterling’s level but he does possess the raw attributes that made Sterling such a threat. Therefore, he’s about three seasons away from joining Man City.
