Things were looking worse than ever for Louis Van Gaal and the Red Devils at the match with Midtjylland in Denmark. Manchester United limped along as the Danish team scored a shocking 2-1 Europa League victory against the Reds and their traveller supporters made it clear they’d had enough by the full-time whistle. When it sounded, the fans began shouting, “We’re f****** s***!” at Louis Van Gaal and his woebegone team.

Their ire is perhaps understandable, if not commendable. This has been Man United’s 10th defeat in all competitions in the 2015/16 campaign. It started well enough, with Memphis Depay netting one in at the 37-minute mark. But not 10 minutes later, Midtjylland drew even with a goal from Pione Sisto shortly before half-time and Paul Onuachu sealed the Devil’s doom by breaking past Juan Mata’s defence and scoring a second winner for the Danes.
This lacklustre performance must have seemed like poor payback for the travel fees and the £71 admission price, which fans had earlier balked at. Louis Van Gaal’s predicament is now the definition of a rock and a hard place and we can’t help but root for the underdog here. We’re hoping that he eventually pulls himself together and manages one more victory before Jose Mourinho swoops in and seizes his club from his clutches.
