It’s always an historic moment when two rivals are set for a showdown. In the round of 16 for the Europa League, Manchester United and Liverpool drew up against each other for their next match. Liverpool will be hosting the first leg in at Anfield at 20:05 GMT on the 10th of March. The second match will take place in Old Trafford at 18:00 GMT on the 17th of March. It will be the first time the English giants have faced each other in a European competition.
Manchester United has never won the tournament before and has been struggling of late. It suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Midtjylland, but managed to bite back at the Danes with a 6-3 on aggregate with Marcus Rashford scoring twice on his debut as United won the second leg 5-1. Liverpool beat Augsberg 1-0 on aggregate with James Milner scoring the only goal of the Thursday tie. The club brought home the tournament trophy in 1973, 1976 and 2001. It will be the first all-English match since Liverpool faced Tottenham in 1973.
