It’s official; Dimtri Payet is the signing of the season and shouldn’t be at West Ham – the Hammers will do very well to keep hold of the attacking-midfielder this summer, with or without Champions League football.
The former Marseille man’s free-kick had the Hammers dreaming of Wembley, and FA Cup success, before Anthony Martial popped the claret and blue ‘bubbles’. However, it didn’t take away from the work of art that was Payet’s delightful set piece; a free-kick that the France international knew he’d struck so sweetly, he ran off celebrating before David de Gea had even had a chance at attempting to stop the ball.
Despite the Irons trying to tell you otherwise, Payet isn’t the first footballer to ‘invent’ the ballsy premature celebration, though.
