Vidic Has A Suggestion On Who Should Replace van Gaal At United

Nemanja Vidic Manchester United

Louis van Gaal’s future is constantly up for debate, and former United defender, Vidic, has had his say.

What would the Red Devils and Louis van Gaal give to have Nemanja Vidic in his prime, back at that the heart of the United defence?! The recently retired defender, who has the highest win percentage of any United player to ever have played over 100 games, has been having his say on the current managerial debate surrounding Old Trafford.

It’s widely expected that United will part ways with van Gaal this summer – FA Cup success may well save the Dutchman but it’s highly unlikely given the fan unrest and the state of the football being served up.

Ever since Jose Mourinho failed so wonderfully at Chelsea, he has been linked with van Gaal’s job. However, the clamour for United’s very own, Ryan Giggs, to make the step from Assistant to the Regional Manager to Manager have intensified recently.

“I like the idea of Giggsy, but Mourinho has had success in the past,”

“It’s a hard choice. Is Giggsy ready or not? He knows. The club knows. I believe they will have an honest conversation.”

“I want someone who knows the club and does the best for the club. I shared a dressing room with him. I know he will do that.”

“Mourinho plays football in a certain way, that is well known, but I definitely respect Mourinho as a manager. He is one of the greatest ever, along with Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson.”

Nemanja Vidic

In a nutshell, Vidic is throwing out the usual cliche tripe that a player always says about a former team-mate, and is basically stopping short of saying that Mourinho is a prick – a successful one – but a prick nonetheless.

Whilst on the subject of potential Manchester United gaffers, another former Red Devils defender, Jaap Stam, has come out today and discussed his dreams to return to United in some capacity:

“First it would be for me to work as a manager in England, but eventually, if I develop and do well, hopefully I can get back in a role for United,”

Jaap Stam

United fans would’ve loved to have had a central defensive partnership of Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic but maybe the fearsome duo can form an imperious double act in the dugout at Old Trafford?
