- Peter Uilhlein is an American playing on the European Tour.
- He was relaxing on the beach after his tied 4th finish at the ISPS HANDA Perth International.
The son of Wally Uihlein, the longtime chief executive of Acushnet, makers of Titleist equipment and FootJoy shoes, Peter is known as “that American cutting his teeth on the European Tour.” The 26-year-old is enormously popular and respected by his peers, “It must be tough for him playing all these different countries. He’s learned from the cultures, the food, the frustrations of travel,” said ex-European Tour chief, George O’Grady.
Uihlien has relished the opportunity to play all over the world and is proof that the European Tour can help an American improve, the same could be said for Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, who also trod this path.
“It’s being a global player. It’s being able to play golf all around the world. Take Ernie Els. He plays in every country. You see his name everywhere. He’s received in different parts of the world. It’s a good experience,” said Uihlien.
Peter was spending some downtime after playing in Perth. This attempt at a boomerang throw was described as: “like hitting a par 5 in two and then 4 putting.” Rickie Fowler was seen appreciating the “nice toss” in the comments section.
Great to see the American getting some rewards for his hard work, he spends so much time travelling as he plays on his adopted tour. Looks like he has some pretty strong girlfriend game, that might make everything a little easier.
