Sorry Chelsea fans but it appears Jose Mourinho hasn’t finished destroying the current campaign for you just yet. And that’s despite the fact Roman Abramovich gave the one-time Blues icon his marching orders several months ago.
The fallen giant wasn’t a fan of John Obi Mikel during his second stint in west London, despite being the manager who brought Mikel to Chelsea back in 2006. Instead Jose persevered with an out of form Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja ‘I only have one good season in me and I’ve used it up’ Matic at the base of his midfield.
Under Mourinho’s replacement, Guus Hiddink, the Blues are currently on the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League from the beginning of a managerial spell – 14 games and counting. And guess who has been pivotal in Chelsea’s change in fortunes? Yep, Obi Mikel.
The Nigerian was brought into the starting XI for Hiddink’s second game back in charge, a huge one against Manchester United, which goes to show how highly valued Mikel is by the Dutchman. Ever since then, the former Manchester United midfielder? has been a continual figure including completing eight 90 minutes in his last 10 appearances.
Despite the change in fortunes for Mikel, the midfielder still isn’t convinced he has a future in London with the defending champions and you can’t help but point the finger at Jose for his lack of faith in the 28-year-old:
“It’s not very nice, especially now when you have kids you just want to do what you can to play,
“I have one more season with Chelsea but I know when this season ends, we will definitely sit down and try to sort out whatever needs to be sorted out,”
“If it means me leaving, fine.
“If it means me staying, then I have to play because one thing I don’t want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before.”

For all his plaudits, and he certainly deserves them, there’s certainly real claim to challenge Jose’s transfer market and team selection policy
Kevin De Bruyne
When no one is questioning why Manchester City spent over £50million on a player, you know you’ve cocked up, Jose.
Chelsea are now linked with a move for their former striker. Nice one, Mourinho.
Getting better and better with age and, let’s be honest, is Courtois really that good…
