Barcelona’s Neymar contract has been leaked, courtesy of the good folks at Football Leaks.
The young Brazilian’s contract has been been the subject of much speculation and controversy since Neymar move from Sao Paulo to Barcelona in 2013.
His dad infamously represented him during the protracted negotiations between the two clubs and pocketed a $45 million commission on the transfer.
Tired of the whispers swirling in the background, the Brazilian has publicly addressed the elephant in the room in the past.
“I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS…I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF ALL THIS TALK. I AM A FAN OF MY DAD FOR HAVING PUT ME WHERE I AM, AND IF HE MAKES MILLIONS FROM THAT, WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? HE WORKED FOR IT, IT DIDN’T JUST FALL IN HIS LAP.”
If the leaks are to be believed, the Brazilian is making a little over $5 million a year at Barcelona, peanuts compared to the guys whose names the striker gets tossed around with.
Broken down weekly, Neymar is pocketing a scant $110,000 per paycheck. Compare that to $825,000 for Cristiano Ronaldo and $710,000 for Lionel Messi.
The most salacious detail of Neymar’s contract is his $216 million buyout clause.
He ain’t going anywhere, unless someone wants to bust out their piggy bank. PSG, City, Chelsea — lookin’ at you guys.
