Time is running for Roberto Martinez, the Goodison Park faithful have becoming increasingly disgruntled with the Spaniard during what has been another season of underachievement for the Toffees.
Everton currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and the ‘Martinez Out’ slogan is quickly picking up momentum – the words were recently smeared upon the exterior walls at Goodison park.
Footage has emerged online of Martinez involved in a heated discussion with an angry supporter at Monday night’s under-21s victory over Chelsea at Southport.
Whilst the audio in the footage isn’t particularly clear, the fan has since revealed what was said in the exchange:
“Are you happy with finishing in the bottom half every season?”
“The fans have had enough Roberto, go back to Spain, we don’t want to end up like Wigan”
“Get the f**k out of our club”
Martinez has admitted that Everton have been their own worst enemies this season, losing a number of matches they should have won. Martinez expressed his gratitude that the fan approached him to voice his frustrations:
“I always want to know what the fans feel, and I always respect a fan who supports our club who has a genuine interest in the club.
“I have enormous respect for people who share passion for the club – Evertonians have been through a lot but now is my third season here and I understand and share their frustrations.”
