The power of football fans moaning has again been proven, with Tottenham Hotspur supporters getting their own way. The Spurs faithful were up in the arms that Kevin Friend had been appointed as the man in the middle for their Monday Night Football game against Stoke City.

Friend is from Leicester and is known to frequent games at the King Power Stadium, bringing the #banter in the South Stand when the day job doesn’t get in the way.

“Kevin Friend, initially selected for the game, is from Leicester and has attended matches at Leicester City in a personal capacity.

Given the context of this match, it was felt unnecessary to add extra scrutiny on the refereeing appointment.”

It’s cute that the Lilywhites even consider themselves still in the title race, with Claudio Ranieri’s side needing three wins to complete the most unlikely football story and are currently on a five match win and clean sheet run.

That being said, if Mauricio Pochettino’s side were going to somehow claw themselves back into the running for the title at the 11th hour, the irony is, they could probably do with Kevin Friend officiating all their remaining games.
