Giovanni Dos Santos was once tipped to rule the footballing world at Barcelona along with Bojan and Ibrahim Afellay.
Like so many off the La Masia production line, Dos Santos failed to make the grade at Barca and the early hype subsided quickly, resulting in an underwhelming move to Tottenham Hotspur.
A loan spell to Championship side Ipswich Town whilst with the Lilywhites says everything you need to know about the way the forward’s career has gone since leaving the Nou Camp.
Dos Santos currently plies his trade in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy and, along with Sebastian Giovinco and David Villa, is easily one of the best in MLS – whether that’s something to brag about all depends on your view on the standard of soccer over there.
That being said, the goal the Mexican international banged in against New England Revolution would’ve been a goal of the season contender in any of the major European leagues!
That hit. Speechless.
