The U.S. Open is an event that has a deadline, which is why Tiger Woods registered three weeks ago, before the registration closed. Woods signing up doesn’t necessarily mean he is going to play but it shows that he is confident enough to sign up for the possibility.
Although his agent Mark Steinberg said there’s no reason to read into this, Woods was hitting bombs at a junior clinic and just played his first round of golf since August.
Last year he registered and then pulled out last minute. There’s no saying whether or not he’ll do the same this time around.
We’re all hoping for a comeback but we shouldn’t get too excited just yet.
