I might not agree with you but I’ll respect an opinion that is different to my own, it’s the cornerstone of any civilised society.

John Peterson has out done himself this time, usually he just posts manipulated quotes that knock Democrats, which I can understand because everyone loves trolling people in a political context. But I’m  just stunned by how fatuous and stupid his posts are.

What would these two think about your stupid bathroom argument

This was posted in reference to a debate y’all seem to be having about gender and bathrooms. It’s one of those situations which is coughing up stupidity by the truck load and Peterson is driving the bandwagon.

Why is this post stupid?

Those aren’t real soldiers they are toy models. This is a scene from the movie “Marwencol”- look it up, a story about a man who stages and photographs scenes in his backyard as a form of therapy. It is based on the true story of Mark Hogancamp, the artist who created and starred in the movie.

Here’s where it gets kind of awkward for John: Mark Hogancamp – the creator of this image Peterson naively circulated – was severely beaten outside his home in 2000 for being a crossdresser.

Here’s what the NY Times had to say:

“A vicious assault 15 years ago, by five men outside a Kingston bar, left Mr. Hogancamp with brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, which he combats in an unparalleled and cinematic way. He is the creator of Marwencol, a small universe that sits next to his trailer, filled with World War II narratives in one-sixth scale miniature and populated by Barbies and other dolls. The alternate Mark Hogancamp, an action figure in a bomber jacket, exists here. Fight scenes, dramatic rescues and love triangles are painstakingly arranged to play out before Mr. Hogancamp’s camera. The resulting images are startlingly lifelike, poignant and, for him, therapeutic.”

So you can see the irony of John Peterson using an image of this nature to compartmentalise how he defines “bravery”. Of course soldiers are courageous, but bravery manifests itself in many different ways. To point at something fictionally created by a man suffering from amnesia and say “look at this real-life bravery” actually undermines the courageousness of real soldiers.  John is a golfer who choses to grandstand from his Instagram page and good luck to him. Keep championing BS causes and you’ll soon find yourself discarded by the PGA – and that really is saying something!

Oh and P.S.

I get that you’re socially conservative and a “Christian” with a small c – because let’s face it you cherry pick the crap out of the bible’s teachings – that’s fine! Just remember:

“Religion is like a penis. It’s fine to have one and it’s fine to be proud of it, but please don’t whip it out in public and start waving it around… and PLEASE don’t try to shove it down my child’s throat.”
