Watford will part company with current manager Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season following the Hornets gaffer’s meeting of all targets set.
Flores easily achieved the requirements of keeping Watford in the Premier League, with the Hornets’ safety never really in doubt given the early season form of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo. However, the Spaniard failed to deliver the most prestigious international football trophy out there, the Jules Rimet.
“We would like to thank Quique for another hugely successful season for Watford Football Club.
“Reaching an FA Cup semi-final and comfortably remaining in the top flight of English football was something we shouldn’t have achieved.
“However, this is a tough industry and Quique knows how much to board wanted to see Watford lift the World Cup trophy this season. Therefore, it is with regret, that we had to make this decision.”
Walter Mazzarri was linked with replacing Flores, however, the Pozzo family have already decided against hiring him following a successful interview with the former Inter Milan manager.
