Dwight Yorke hasn’t done anything to ease the bitterness between Manchester United and Liverpool fans, with the former Red Devils’ latest comments on Adam Lallana.
“Lallana doesn’t score enough goals and he’s had chance after chance. At international level, you can’t afford to carry people.”
‘He hasn’t really succeeded at Liverpool yet he walks into Roy Hodgson’s team. It’s bizarre. What has he done so far?
“I know it’s all about opinion but Lallana gives me nothing. He has proven it in the two games he’s played; he has not scored, he has not created a goal. He just hasn’t got it.
“Listen the guy is a decent player, but you are talking about the first eleven for England and he’s in it. It’s madness.”
Adam Lallana has occupied the right-wing for Roy Hodgson’s side in all three group games for the Three Lions, and has divided opinion more than the EU referendum.
Adam Lallana has been quality all three games for me. Good player.

I always wonder how in the world Henderson & Lallana end up be with #ENG squad . Absolutely useless

The debate over the former Southampton midfielder comes down to whether you believe a player who rarely loses possession, is tidy on the ball but doesn’t really make any contribution of note is a worthwhile player to have. Especially on the right of an attacking trio.
Oh, and just to truly make sure Yorke had wound up the Liverpool fans enough, Yorke also praised the pace and agility of a certain former Reds winger:
“Sterling would make me look like an old man.”
But the former Aston Villa striker is clearly forgetting that once past him, Sterling would trip over the ball/run it out of ball/his cross wouldn’t beat the first man.

The (sort of) praise for Sterling is baffling, though, with the £49million man’s performances out in France for England have reflected a player that is short on confidence, lacks a footballing brain and just isn’t enjoying playing football at the moment.
But then again, I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised by anything Dwight Yorke says, a man who decided getting involved with Katie Price/Jordan was a sensible decision.
