Golf is hard (and heartbreaking).

It’s heartbreaking to watch a journeyman pro like Steve Wheatcroft fall at the final hurdle. His career has been long and tough, 260 professional starts with no PGA Tour wins made this meltdown all the more difficult to watch.
Having bogeyed the 17th, Steve needed a birdie on the straightforward par-5 18th to force a playoff with the eventual winner Jhonattan Vegas. Finding the fairway with his drive, he pulled his approach into the green side bunker, still, not a bad position to get up and down.
The 38-year-old produced a horrible stab from a hard bunker that required a crisp connection. A drop, penalty and two putts later he was tied 5th and roughly $200,000 worse off, having missed precious FedEx Cup points.
Golf can be brutal and it’s hard not to feel terrible for the winless American.
