This is officially the greatest field in Major Championship history, here’s why

“With every player inside the top 50 of the World Ranking teeing up at Baltusrol Golf Club this week, and 97 of the world’s top 100 competing, the 98th edition of the US PGA Championship can claim to be a true clash of the titans,” notes the European Tour.

With 156 players, this is the biggest field for any Major Championship in 2016. When you consider the last four Majors were won by first-time winners, this really will be a tournament for the history books.

The outcome of this tournament could change the appearance of golf’s hierarchy, not to mention the respective Ryder Cup teams. Dustin Johnson will go to World Number One by winning provided Jason Day finishes lower than tied second.
