You know when you get a takeaway, the most exciting bit comes when you’ve got the order but you’ve got to race home before you can start eating it.
Sure, the chicken chow mein was lovely but it never does quite live up to the levels you built up in your head, as you frantically drove the 90 seconds home – even though it probably was quicker for you to walk.
That’s basically what Euro 2016 has been. Sure it was bloody great, because football is but the tournament in France wasn’t quite the spectacle we had all hoped it would be. That being said, chicken chow mein is still an amazing dish, and still delivers on a lot of levels – just not all.
