When most people outside of the United States think of MLS, they associate the league with the foreign stars and Designated Players that have balled out in Europe like David Villa, Sebastian Giovinco, Andrea Pirlo, and Didier Drogba.
A player like Diego Valeri gets left out in the cold to go about his business and bring a title back to Portland.
I’m sick and tired of Valeri not getting the hype he deserves.
He consistently puts the team on his back and produces highlight reel goals and assists on the reg.
Take a seat, Seattle. Cascadia belongs to the Timbers.
Since arriving in the MLS in 2013, the Argetine has scored 33 goals and has had 32 assists, transforming the Portland Timbers into a title contending team.
The man does it all.
If designated players were to be judged on the impact they’ve had on their club, Diego Valeri would have to be near the top of that list.
Plus, Valeri and his family love Portland.
