There have been a lot of blockbuster transfers this offseason but Arsenal may have landed the biggest whale of all: defender Rob Holding.
The club announced they have reached terms with the 20-year-old Bolton Wanderers Player of the Year to keep him in North London for years to come.
Holding helped England’s U-21 team to victory in France along with fellow Arsenal defender Callum Chambers earlier this summer. He’s a promising young player who’s composed on the ball and he’s not afraid to get physical. You want a defender who can go toe to toe with a Zlatan or Drogba-esque striker if need be.

In all seriousness, Holding isn’t the big name striker that Arsenal fans wanted to see their club sign, but he is a promising young player with a bright future ahead of him. A savvy move, but not one that is going to catapult the Gunners to the top of the table.
If Wenger wants to contend for a top 4 finish in the Premier League this year, he’ll have to go out and sign someone with a little more star power than Rob Holding, even though the versatile young defender is a nice pickup for the club
