Patrick Reed is the perennial comeback kid. He’s living proof that the American public can change their opinion if the right amount of contrition is shown. This is why the 27-year-old is finally getting the attention a player of his quality deserves.
Pat spent time with Golf Digest and took on their Drone Challenge. Tasked with hitting it from the air, he answered questions on a variety of topics. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but one question was handled like an absolute champion.
Hillary or Trump? “I plead the fifth”, said Pat. “No political questions here, we’re on the golf course”, he added.
A great answer, although we can safely assume Pat is backing the same person as most TOUR players…
PGA Tour players are very standoffish when it comes to politics, with Rory being one acception. The Northern Irishman recently gave his opinion on the American political system.
Two years ago people were writing about the arrogance of Pat the Twat, now we can’t get enough. Why?
The likes of Jordan, Dustin and Rory saw their social currency devalue after chickening out of the Olympics. Not Pat, his patriotic display was a welcome relief from the pussy-footing attitude of golf’s best players.

Statements like this really helped his cause:
“I would love to play for my country, and I have that opportunity and I heard that the deadline is tomorrow. And mathematically, I think I’m a lock, I’m not 100 percent sure,” “But I’d love to play and hopefully we can go out and wear those stars and stripes.”
He’s a serious player
The perennial top ten finisher has a lot more offer than just overt patriotism; power hitting, tenacious scrambling and relentless competitiveness make him a formidable opponent.
With his win at the 2016 Barclays, Patrick Reed now joins Dustin Johnson as the only other player to win at least once on TOUR each of the last four seasons. Reed’s 9 Top-10 finishes during the 2015-16 regular season is more than his previous two seasons combined. Those stories of cheating, throat-stamping and general aresholary that haunted his college years are now a distant memory.
He’s respected in Europe
This is an impressive achievement for the man who did this…
Patrick Reed, baby.

Believe me as a European, we fear Pat the most. He doesn’t care who you are, where he’s playing or what the odds are, he has the philosophy of a champion. Basically he’s like Seve without the charm, good looks, panache and five major championships.
He is your main man this Ryder Cup and this candid display in front of the camera only adds to his allure.
