Yet, 32-year-old Nelson Valdez tried and succeeded in reminding everyone that the MLS can provide some gold-dust moments of football hilarity – giving us all a glimmer of hope that we could play football across the pond in retirement.

How Valdez missed the target is only something Fernando Torres could explain. The news circulating from the State is that his manager has proposed a new way for the centre-forward to find the net in his next game.
Fortunately enough for the Seattle Sounders FC centre-forward, Clint Dempsey, decided to do what Americans are calling a ‘Frank Lamp-trick’, and bagged himself three goals to ensure Valdez miss wasn’t too costly for the MLS side.
