Pep Guardiola and Man City are gunning for Man United after making a major upgrade at keeper. The club confirmed it signed 33-year-old Claudio Bravo from Barcelona for about $18 million on a four-year deal.
It’s that time again!
Let’s all #WelcomeClaudio to Manchester City!

Bravo is exactly the man Pep needed to replace Joe Hart; he’s got experience in spades and is a class act on and off the pitch.
Bravo is Chile’s most capped player of all time with 106 caps. He’s won back-to-back Copa Américas with Chile, including their defeat of Argentina a few months ago that sent Messi into a tailspin. Bravo was voted goalie of the tournament in both cases.
I’m very proud to be joining Manchester City. I know the Club is building something very special and I hope I can be part of many successes in the coming years.
I have followed City’s progress in recent years and obviously know some of my new team-mates from the Copa America.
It is not easy to leave a club like Barcelona where I had two fantastic years, but the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola was too good to refuse.
His club career is equally impressive. In just two years with Barcelona, he won eight different titles and was named to the 2014/2015 La Liga team of the season. Basically, he’s been nothing short of sensational his whole career. Barcelona fan “sombrefulgurant” summed it up best,
Bravo has been simply amazing, amazing for us. He is also class outside the pitch. He is the kind of player who will slap some sense to the backline and he will push the team forward when the match is not going like planned and everyone’s frustrated. Fuck I’m going to miss him…

Adding a level of intrigue to Bravo’s move is that Man City has drawn Barcelona in the Champions League (again).

Man City boss Pep Guardiola was gushing about his new keeper,
Claudio is a fantastic goalkeeper and an excellent addition to our squad.
He has experience and great leadership qualities and is in the prime of his life. He is a goalkeeper I have admired for a number of years and I’m really happy he is now a City player.
Claudio Bravo is exactly what the doctor ordered for Manchester City. He is the yang to Zlatan’s ying, and it’ll be interesting to see how far he can take City in England and beyond.
