Arsenal kick-off their journey to the Round of 16 Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain. And as usual with Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has a lot of similar players and injuries to contend with, so what XI should start agaisnt PSG?
Petr Cech – GK
Yep, nothing to see here. Next.
Hector Bellerin – RB
Best right-back in the Premier League.
Rob Holding – CB
Laurent Koscielny is touch-and-go for the PSG clash. And considering that Edinson Cavani is about as useful as a paper umbrella, and Holding looks a composed defender, the youngster should have no problems out in Paris.
Shkodran Mustafi – CB
Mertesacker is a highly underrated defender. However, in Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny has a centre-back partner, those outside of Arsenal feel the Frenchman deserves.
Kieran Gibbs – LB
Although Monreal is superb, Gibbs' pace will be handy with the likes of Di Mari, Jese and Lucas out on the wings.
Granit Xhaka – CDM
Someone will be tasked with knocking the creative stuffing out of Verratti!
Mohamed Elneny – CM
It's going to be tough in the middle with Verratti, Matuidi and Motta. Therefore, Elneny's combination of sensible in possession and strength will be key.
Theo Walcott – RW
The pose of Walcott wrapped up on the bench, was the go-to image for the winger. However, injury-free and accepting he's a winger rather than a striker, has seen the England international have an underrated start to the season.
Mesut Ozil – CAM
One of just four genuine world-class players in the Premier League - you can fight amongst yourselves on who the other three are.
Alex Iwobi – LW
The Nigerian international put in one of the performances of Arsenal's season, last campaign, away at the Nou Camp. Nothing seems to phase the promising talent.
Olivier Giroud – ST
Lucas Perez was given the nod against Southampton - whether it was Wenger having an eye on the PSG game, or a genuine preference over the Spaniard, remains to be seen.
