Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi trolls himself over social media

You could almost hear pint glasses smash in north London pubs all the way from Paris, when the Arsenal line-up was released and David Ospina was selected over Petr Cech.

However, the Colombian put in a top performance, and instead it was Alex Iwobi to have his head on the chopping board…but he put himself there ?!

The Arsenal attacker took to Snapchat to criticise himself after having the opportunity to grab a surprising winner in Paris, late on, after Alexis Sanchez had bagged an undeserved equaliser.

In spite of the miss, it was a crackin’ start to the Gunners’ Champions League campaign, as the result puts the English side in good control of the group… they’ll still inevitably end up finishing second, and get totally turned over by Barcelona in the last 16, though.

However, was Iwobi being harsh on himself, or should the young lad be offering more? It can’t get much worse than the donkey that is Olivier Giroud, can it?

Yet, it seems that although the Nigerian international is still just 20 years old, the Arsenal man looks set to be another Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Football is clearly in the Arsenal man’s blood, as he is the nephew of Jay-Jay Okocha. However, like Walcott and Chamberlain, the Nigerian has no outright position, and a regular starting position at Arsenal seems a bit of a pipe-dream given that Arsene Wenger had hundreds of similar style footballers at his disposal.

The Arsenal man, if he wants to develop and further his career, should be starting regularly, and in a consistent position to reach the heights that many feel he is capable of achieving.

When Danny Welbeck comes back to full fitness, and with the signing of Lucas Perez, puts the Nigerian way down the striking pecking order. Maybe a loan move in January to another Premier League club, could be good for the lad’s development.
