Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial? Tough one. We think the Frenchman pips it, but not by six prestigious EA Sports points, which is exactly what Martial believes.
Both had impressive season debuts at Manchester United, under Louis van Gaal. But it seems that the Frenchman has failed to take this form with him to the start of the new season, and Rashford, well, the kid’s a genius.
The video shows Rashford in a light as one of life’s nice guys; full of praise for his colleague, whilst self-deprecating when necessary. Martial, on the other hand, looks to give off the impression as a slightly pissed off Frenchman…?.
We couldn’t agree more with Rashford’s rating of the 20-year-old’s defending ability as well ?.
Martial giving the big-Rash 79 pace?! Have a day off, mate. The bloke skins defenders for fun. Just look at the way he made Bacary Sagna look like Per Mertesacker as soon as he came on in the Manchester Derby.
And to be fair to Martial, only getting 83 on dribbling seems harsh. When the Frenchman runs with the ball, he seems as natural as Mary Berry caressing a… cake.
Both chaps are expected to get a lot of chances in the Europa League, this season – although Jose Mourinho would probably prefer to play Bastian Schweinsteiger up top and rest his players, in a tournament which the United boss sees as irrelevant as Diego Costa views red cards.
Rashford and Martial have real quality, and look set to be United stars. But, in similar fashion to Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Arsenal, they need to be starting every week, and playing in a regular position. The pair certainly favour playing as strikers over wingers, but will miss out every weekend with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Perhaps the Europa League, a tournament we doubt Ibra will feature much in, will mean that either Rashford or Martial get to show their true colours, and what they have to offer in the no. 9 role.
