PSG defender, Serge Aurier, is set for a spell on the sidelines. Nope, not due to an injury or suspension, but due to a jail sentence. The 23-year-old has been charged with assaulting French police officers, back in May, and faces two months of a ‘convertible’ sentence.
This means that the Ivorian will face community service, rather than go to jail; how much did the right-back pay to create that?! Here’s some other players who have done time or have had a run-in with the fuzz…
Guus Hiddink
Never trusted the Dutchman. The ex-Chelsea boss was given a six-month suspended sentence and €45,000 fine for tax fraud.

Duncan Ferguson
Probably the hardest striker to grace the beautiful game. Genuinely terrified defenders. No surprise, as Dunc' served a three-month sentence for assaulting Raith Rovers, John McStay... whilst playing! Source: Toffee TV
Joey Barton
Of course the philosopher/author/thug has done time. The Rangers man has been up to his usual in light of the midfielder's book being recently released.
And has served a total of 10 months behind bars, including four months in 2008 for common assault on a fellow player in training.

Perhaps more surprising to some, the Arsenal legend was locked up for four months after driving four times over the limit.
A black mark on what was an otherwise outstanding career.

Shame the Englishman never lived up to the winger's potential. Why? Because the ex-Stoke man had to wear an electronic tag whilst playing.
Served three months for driving offences.

Patrick Kluivert
A new one to us. Whilst at Ajax, the striker caused death by dangerous driving and served 240 hours' community service.

Bruno Fernandes de Souza
A very sad case. Souza is serving 22 years for the murder, and hiding the body of the C.R. Flamengo's former girlfriend.
Terrible story.

Marcus Bent
The striker had a suspended 12-month prison sentence, for affray and possession of a class-A drug.
Surely set for Narcos...

Dennis Wise
A proper nasty bloke. Would not want to meet Wise down a dark alley.
Done for assault, leading to a three-month sentence. Yet, for some reason the charge was acquitted. Did Dennis threaten the judge's family?

The striker has served three jail sentences over his 'career', including 18 months for sexual assault charges.
