England are a footballing laughing stock. And night follows day. No shocks there.
And as the Football Association look to try and make the first appropriate and correct appointment since Sir Alf Ramsey, a relative unknown, Ralf Rangnick, has become a surprising frontrunner.
“The speculation surrounding Ralf Rangnick for the England job will come as a huge surprise to many. In fact, some football fans probably won’t even know who he is.
“This isn’t the first time the ex-Schalke boss has been approached to manage the Three Lions and he’s a little more than a dark horse at 9/4 in the betting. Only Gareth Southgate is shorter at 5/4.”
