Andriy Shevchenko was one hell of a player. With a total of 175 strikes to his name in 322 games for AC Milan, it made the current Ukraine manager one of the most prolific strikers in football. It was a shame the now-40-year-old couldn’t take the success to England.
Having played with an array of top quality players, there still seems an element of bias towards his old Milan chums, and one very odd decision over an Englishman! Regardless, the XI is a very strong team, which would give any side a tough run out. Have a look to see what you think…
GK) Gianluigi Buffon
Selected by just about all legends, nowadays. Image Source: Casw
RB) Cafu
Only words that come to our heads here, are Tina Turner's 'simply the best'. Image Source: Media Tumblr
John Terry
Perhaps an element of Andriy's Chelsea days getting the better of him here? A solid centre-back, but to put JT in the ultimate XI, really?! Image Source: Perform
CB) Alessandro Nesta
Can't disagree with this. With 78 caps for Italy, and one World Cup to his name - the centre-back had one hell of a career. Image Source: Klikbola11
LB) Paolo Maldini
To have a player who could play as solidly at left-back and centre-back as Maldini, means the AC Milan bloke deserves a slot in any ultimate XI. Image Source: Lisimg
CM) Kaka
Perhaps an element of loyalty coming in here again. Don't get us wrong, Kaka could be a world-beater on his day, but only really had two AMAZING seasons. Image Source: Wash Times
CM) Steven Gerrard
Best English centre-midfielder ever. Image Source: Annamichaela
CM) Zinedine Zidane
Best centre-midfield player to grace the beautiful game. Glided around the green more convincingly than Mohammad Ali in a boxing ring. Image Source: Getty Images
LW) Lionel Messi
With a left-foot that's just slightly better than Riyad Mahrez, the Argentine can consider himself lucky to squeeze in. Image Source: Twitter
ST) Ronaldo
What a player the Brazilian striker was. But, to pick the ex-Real Madrid man over CR7 seems slightly off. Image Source: Twitter
RF) Wayne Rooney
Ay? Very odd choice. Again, Wazza Roo could be pretty special on his day. But, surely there are some others out there who impress slightly more? Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, to name just two. Image Source: Getty Images

Certainly a few rogue selections from Ukraine’s greatest ever player. Usually it’s hard to really debate these sides. Although we may have players we prefer in certain positions, there’s usually a sense of acceptance with the choices. However, a spine that consists of Kaka, John Terry and Wayne Rooney could certainly be ‘got’ at.
