Justin Timberlake’s near hole-in-one at Pebble Beach is not a bad thing

Have your heard about the new entertainment duo, The Justins? One sings adeptly, one’s an expert golfer.

Paired together at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the budding bros–who recently took a fishing trip to the Bahamas–had experienced the full fury of Crosby Weather through two days. On a more temperate third day of competition, Justin Timberlake and Justin Rose arrived on the seventh tee of the 100-or-so yard ocean-skirting par 3.

Timberlake, who plays to a five handicap, authored a crafty bit of shotmaking at the exposed par-3 to nearly hole his tee shot.

And in a fortuitous moment of inspiration, Justin Rose (whose social media has shown not to be as much of a milquetoast as his appearance would suggest) took full advantage of the Tour’s loosening of on-course cell phone restrictions for players to capture Timberlake’s approach.

Here’s what the pair had to say about the moment after the round. You have to assume these remarks were delivered with arms draped around one another’s shoulders and grins aplenty.

“We had some wind coming off the back and I just tried to play it down,” Timberlake said. “That would have been something, right?”

“When the crowds turn up,” Rose added, “he plays his best. Or when there’s the iconic 7th hole at Pebble, he’ll stiff it. You know what I mean?”

“I just close my eyes, really,” Timberlake said.

“It’s all skill,” Rose said.
