Jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen made Team SoloMid history by claiming his second regional title for the team. In the team’s nine split tenure in the NA LCS and despite reaching the final at every attempt, no single TSM jungler had ever experienced multiple playoff final victories ahead of the 2017 Spring Split series vs Cloud9; Svenskeren is the jungler to have broken the curse.
The success of the Team SoloMid organisation is unparalleled. No North American eSports organisation can boast the same level of dominance over the League of Legends scene as Andy “Reginald” Dinh’s brand. No fan of the North American League of Legends Championship Series has ever experienced a playoff final without Team SoloMid. As the team made their ninth appearance at the regional showdown against Cloud9 in Vancouver, one of the five spotlights shone upon Svenskeren to become the first TSM jungler to win multiple titles with the squad.
Despite underperforming by comparison to his dominating results of Summer 2016, Svenskeren stepped on-stage pitched as the favourite to rule the jungle. Squaring up against Rookie of the Split Juan Arturo “Contractz” Garcia, Svenskeren once again provided evidence for his fabled “playoff buff”.
Whilst Team SoloMid top laner Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell was recorded as the series MVP, Sven’s play was widely praised and certainly deserving of the accolade:
The Danish star is the first Team SoloMid jungler to stay with the organisation for longer than a year, part of what is widely regarded to be the strongest ever TSM roster. Svenskeren’s predecessors, whilst all enjoying one regional title to their names, each left the squad considered to be weak links in Reginald’s ultimate ambition of winning worlds:
“I guess I felt pressured because I had a pretty bad split so I had to perform here in playoffs or the whole year would’ve been bad for me.
“I’m happy with my performance here in the last best of five, I still made a lot of mistakes and I guess I’m just happy for the TSM organisation, that we won and that I’m the only jungler that’s a two time winner!”

Heading into the Mid-Season Invitational, Team SoloMid and Svenskeren will once more compete to get their hands on international silverware. Whilst consecutive regional titles are a fantastic achievement for the TSM star, securing the regions first piece of Riot-recognised silverware would cement Svenskeren’s place as the best jungler in Team SoloMid history.
