Patrice Evra – Luis Suarez feud takes strange new twist

Ethan Tait

Luis Suarez is a villain, whether he likes it or not. The FC Barcelona man just has knack for putting himself in really shitty situations with even worse outcomes.

Back when Luisito was scoring goals for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard hadn’t slipped yet, the big news of the year was the suspension of Suarez because of his racist comments towards Patrice Evra when Manchester United played against Liverpool.

The incident led to the 8-game suspension of the part-time vampire and a sizable fine for the average person. Since that moment, Evra and Suarez have not been the fondest of each other and rightly so. Racism is something that shouldn’t ever be taken lightly, especially in football.

Then, Suarez managed to get himself into further trouble in the Premier League when he bit Branislav Ivanovic in 2013, earning him a 10-game suspension and then again at the 2014 World Cup where he bit Giorgio Cheillini, earning him a 4-month suspension from all football.

Fortunately, for Barcelona fans, it has been 852 days since Luis Suarez last bit someone and has been in the best form of his life. He’s been up there with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and deserves to be in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or.

Enough about Suarez, Patrice Evra over the weekend has looked to end the feud between the two in an Instagram post regarding Suarez’s golden boot award.

In the post’s caption Patrice Evra said,

In my instagram there is only love and never hate. Luis, you’re a great player and the best number 9. Congrats, Luis. I love this game

Patrice Evra

Such a class act by Patrice Evra. Football should be celebrated as a way to unite people of different races and not a way to let racism win.

Evra, you’re one hell of a gent for this and hopefully Luis Suarez will continue his string of good behavior.
