Mark Hughes has made Stoke City the dumping ground for FC Barcelona players that couldn’t make it in La Liga. Bojan Krkic, Ibrahim Afellay, and Marc Muniesa have all traded the glamour of Barcelona for Stoke-on-Trent. But rumors are flying about saying that FC Barcelona is considering taking a player from Stoke.
At first thought, you’d imagine Barcelona wanting the Welsh Pirlo, Joe Allen. The midfielder has been in great form with four goals in his last four, including a goal at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Allen in the iconic Blaugrana kit anytime soon.
But who then, if not the Welsh legend?

Rumor has it that Barcelona is looking to sign right back, Glen Johnson, in order to provide cover for Sergi Roberto.
Hold the fuck up, the Glen Johnson who couldn’t cut it at Liverpool in the Brendan Rodgers era is now being considered for FC Barcelona? There’s no justice.
Imagine seeing Johnson turn up to training and not have a single person besides Luis Suarez know who he is and at that point Suarez would pretend not to know him.
Barcelona is in need of cover for Sergi Roberto as Aleix Vidal has turned out to be a bust, but a move for Johnson is baffling. Yes, they need a right back that isn’t cup-tied and that can be purchased for cheap, but it is Barcelona. Almost any player in football would jump at the opportunity to sign for one of the best clubs in the world.
Johnson will definitely be cheap as he’s no youngster at 32 years old and will be happy just to sit on the bench for the Barça. Plus, a move would place Johnson in elite company joining Mark Hughes and Gary Linekar as the only English players to play for Barcelona. Do you really want to have Johnson amongst those two?
Barcelona will hopefully realize the absurdity of their potential transfer, find a young talent playing outside the Champions League, squash the rumors, and avoid embarrassment.
