Has Ozil shown Koscielny the ultimate disrespect?

We’ve all got those mates; the ones that tell the truth, when really, they should lie through their teeth to back up their pals.

Well, king of assisting, the German visionary, the goggle-eyed wonder – or whatever you want to call, Mesut Ozil – has royally mugged off his Arsenal pals by revealing who he thinks is the best defender in the beautiful game.

I mean, come on?! Two of the Gunners’ centre-halves had Diego Costa in their pockets in that Chelsea victory earlier on this season.

Laurent Koscielny is regarded as the best centre-back in the Premier League – with Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld not too far behind (?) – so it certainly isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that the World Cup winner would’ve named the Frenchman.

It’s actually one of those rare times, when it wouldn’t have felt like PR waffle from our pampered superstars, but instead, a deserved and understandable choice of Bosscielny as the world’s best centre-back.

To be fair to the German God, the attacking-midfielder has played with/against some top, top players. So the choice of best defender is almost as hard as when Cristiano Ronaldo was asked.

From Real Madrid to the German national team, there’s a whole host of names to choose from, making Ozil’s decision ultimately not that hard when considering he’s been training with Per Mertesacker for over three years.
