The Players Championship gets underway this Thursday and it promises to provide a thrilling spectacle.
First up we have Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, all know for their domination of the largest stick. Johnson’s form needs no introduction; he boasts a 3-1-1-1-2 finish line in his last five starts. Rory has been quiet the last few weeks, married life has started for the 28-year-old.
He has finished T12 or better in the last four Players Championships, so expect him to be there or thereabouts. He recently posted footage of him using a TaylorMade driver and woods. It is not clear from the video which model McIlroy is swinging, although it does not appear to have the weight track of the M1.
Justin Thomas had an incredible start to the season, but has since cooled off somewhat. He does possess the perfect game for TPC Sawgrass, and his distance off the tee will make this a boom boom triumvirate.
Dustin Johnson: 315.2 (1st), 58.31% in driving accuracy.
Justin Thomas: 306.5 (6th), 54.68% in driving accuracy.
Rory McIlroy: 316.1 (European Tour Stat), 76.39% in driving accuracy.
Other groups of note include reigning champion Jason Day with Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson; Jordan Spieth playing with Hideki Matsuyama and Phil Mickelson; Masters winner and former Players champ Sergio Garcia with Adam Scott and Matt Kuchar; fledgling star Jon Rahm with Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer.
