Barcelona’s Messi replacement has just shown the world he’s not good enough

When the A-listers are missing, teams rely on the peripherals to step-up and show they can cut the mustard in the starting XI. Could the Barcelona boys do that? Absolutely not, the Catalans only mustered a measly 0-0 draw against 11th in the table, Malaga.

What’s more than that, with both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi absent, according to Carles Domenech, Barca star, Paco Alcacer, went 31 minutes without touching the ball.

Where did the lad go for this spell? The Spaniard was signed in the summer for €30 million, and decided to start his Christmas holidays early in the La Liga clash. Must have been caught up with the Sainsbury’s advert, and taken the cartoon’s message too literally. No, you can’t just leave your job, set up a clone and not be in the game. Not in a La Liga clash, not at the Nou Camp, and not when you’re supposedly worth thirty-fuckin-mill.

Other reports have suggested he was too busy following Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Atletico Madrid – to just try and piss off Lionel Messi that bit more.

It really goes to show how much Barca lack huff and puff without the suspended, Suarez and Messi who was missing through illness… must be all that cannabis, Ezequiel Lavezzi, was apparently bringing into the Argentine camp over the international break ?.

What’s worse is that Malaga finished the game with nine-men, and Barca still couldn’t find a way through. The 23-year-old has got a lot of learning to do, particularly given that he’s not found the net in six La Liga appearances this season; stop getting excited about your Christmas holidays, and take your opportunities – trust me, they’re pretty rare with MSN around.

The Ballon d’Or winners if Messi and Ronaldo didn’t exist…
